An intimate French table

Fine dining on Sanibel Island.

What fine dining means here

A small room, one service, no shortcuts.

Bleu RendezVous is a French bistro of a few tables on Sanibel Island, run by the people who own it. Laurence welcomes the room, Chef Pierre cooks. Dinner is served once an evening, so nothing is rushed and nothing is reheated. That, for us, is what fine dining means: classic French technique, produce bought for the day, and the time to do it properly.

The bistro sits a short drive from the beaches, and most of our guests arrive at the end of the day, once the sun has gone down over the Gulf. Dinner here is meant to be the evening itself, not a stop on the way to something else. Couples looking for a romantic dinner, families marking an occasion and regulars who come back every season all end up in the same small room.

The room

Intimate by design.

The dining room seats a handful of tables. Conversation stays possible, celebrations feel like celebrations, and the same evening is shared by everyone in the house. Smart casual attire is perfect: we are a fine dining bistro, but jackets and ties are not required.

Dinner only · Seasonal opening · Reopening October 8. Because tables are limited, reservations are strongly recommended.

Candles on every table, French music kept low, and a team that takes the time to explain each dish and each wine. If you are planning a quiet dinner for two, mention it when you book and we will seat you accordingly.

Trained in Paris.

Chef Pierre learned his craft in French kitchens before crossing the Atlantic. Escargots in garlic and parsley butter, seared foie gras with fig jam, beef bourguignon, orange duck, scallops Saint-Jacques and the fresh fish of the Gulf, finished with a classic French sauce.

French, by the glass.

A short, deliberate list of French wines, chosen to sit beside the cooking rather than compete with it. The four-course menu can be served with a wine pairing, glass by glass.

Anniversaries and celebrations.

Birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and quiet celebrations make up most of our evenings. Tell us the occasion when you book and we will make room for it.

At the table

Four courses, or a la carte.

The Bleu four-course menu travels through French classics, with an optional wine pairing. The a la carte menu follows the season and the market, from the first appetiser to the crème brûlée. We are a seasonal restaurant at 751 Tarpon Bay Road, Sanibel, Florida, a few minutes from the beaches of Sanibel Island.
